At the top of your screen, you will still see the Brightspace navigation bar and icons. Below that, you will see the application in which you keep your register. This application is called eJournal.
In eJournal, you always work in a ‘collection’. You can think of this as your portfolio for a module. In such a collection, you collect documents ('evidence') in the form of professional products and/or processes. This demonstrates that you meet the requirements of a particular learning pathway and that you are ‘at level’. These requirements can be found on the assessment forms (explained further below).
- Directly below the green navigation bar, you can see where you are on the left-hand side. There is also a back button to navigate to other collections in eJournal.
- On the right-hand side, you will see four buttons:
- Share: Use this button to share your entire register or specific content with a teacher or other relevant person (fellow student, internship supervisor). There are also other ways to do this.
- Notifications: Here you will see notifications that you receive in eJournal. You can indicate which notifications you want to receive by email.
- Full screen: Click on the square to view eJournal in full size or in a new tab in your browser.
- Profile: Here you will find your profile page, support options, and general help for eJournal (not specifically written for Saxion).
- This is the title of the ‘collection’ (the register) you are currently viewing.
- Directly below the title, you will see your name, the number of points you can earn with the register, and a button that allows you to submit the entire register for assessment at the end of the module.
- Below that, you will find a number of colored buttons for the different sub tasks of your program (e.g. Research, Selling, Professional Development). Read here what you will see when you click on one of these buttons.
- On the left, you will see a number of buttons that take you to the sections of the register. These are explained in more detail below.
- At the bottom center, ánd when you hover your mouse over “Content” on the left, you will see scheduled activities ready for you to submit 'evidence' documents. These should be submitted before the specified deadline.
Information per sub task (e.g. Research, Selling, Professional Development)
Some of the colored buttons you see (5) are sub tasks of your programm. If you click on one of these buttons, you will see the requirements for that sub task.
- You will see the performance for the entire sub task.
- In the subcategories, you will see all the specific requirements for this sub task.
- By clicking on a ‘level’ (e.g. 1.1 Fashion), you will see which requirements (4) are asked at that level.
Parts of a collection ('portfolio')
At the left side of your screen, you will see a number of buttons for different parts of your e-portfolio. When you hover your mouse over these buttons, the planned activities will be displayed. Once you also submitted other documents, these will also be displayed in this list

- Use the + button to add documents to your e-portfolio when there was no planned activity in the 'Content' column on the left.
- Introduction: this is the page you see when you enter a collection.
- Content: this list shows the pre-planned assignments and other documents that you have registered in your portfolio.
- Pin: click on this pin to keep this list of documents (‘Content’) open.
- Dashboard: your progress is shown here for each sub task and you can see what feedback/up/forward you have received.
- Access & Feedback: here you will find all feedback requests, including those that have not yet been responded to. If you get feedback from your teacher without sending a specific request for feedback or approval, you will not need to use this page.
- Collection assessment: There is no specific collection assessment. The assessment of your collection will consist of the assessments of individual assignments.
