At the top of your screen, you will still see the Brightspace navigation bar and icons. Below that, you will see the application in which you keep your register. This application is called eJournal.
In eJournal, you always work in a ‘collection’. You can think of this as your register for a module. In such a collection, you collect registrations in the form of professional products and/or processes. This demonstrates that you meet the requirements of a particular learning pathway and that you are ‘at level’. These requirements can be found on the assessment forms (explained further below).
- Directly below the green navigation bar, you can see where you are on the left-hand side. There is also a back button to navigate to other collections in eJournal.
- On the right-hand side, you will see four buttons:
- Share: Use this button to share your entire register or specific content with a teacher or other relevant person (fellow student, internship supervisor). There are also other ways to do this.
- Notifications: Here you will see notifications that you receive in eJournal. You can indicate which notifications you want to receive by email.
- Full screen: Click on the square to view eJournal in full size or in a new tab in your browser.
- Profile: Here you will find your profile page, support options, and general help for eJournal.

- This is the title of the ‘collection’ (the register) you are currently viewing.
- Directly below the title, you will see your name, the number of points you can earn with the register, and a button that allows you to submit the entire register for assessment at the end of the module.
- Below that, you will find a number of colored buttons for:
- the different learning pathways of your program. Read here what you will see when you click on one of these buttons.
- the different phases of your project (inventory analysis, preliminary design, provisional design, final design). If you click on one, you will see a description of that phase.
- the name of the project you are working on during that module.
- Next, you will see the test information for this module.
- On the left, you will see a number of buttons that take you to the sections of the register. These are explained in more detail below.
Information per learning pathway
Some of the colored buttons you see (5) are learning pathways. If you click on one of these buttons, you will see the requirements for that learning pathway.
- You will see the performance for the entire learning pathway.
- In the subcategories, you will see all the specific requirements for this learning pathway.
- By clicking on a ‘level’ (e.g. Jaar 1 Module 2), you will see which requirements (4) are asked at that level.
Parts of a collection (‘register’)
On the left side of your screen, you will see a number of buttons for different parts of your register. When you hover your mouse over these buttons, the entries you have already made will be displayed. At the beginning, this will of course be empty and you will see ‘No activities found’.

- Use the + button to make a new entry in your register.
Read how to do this in How do I add a registration to my register? - Introduction: this is the page you see when you enter a register.
- Content: this list shows the registrations you have recorded in your register. Feedback/up/forward requests and self-reflections can also be displayed here (instead of only at the bottom of a registration) if you select the option Related feedback as a separate activity under Filter.
- Pin: click on this pin to keep this list of registrations (‘Content’) open.
- Dashboard: your progress is shown here for each learning pathway and you can see what feedback/up/forward you have received (if approved).
- Access & Feedback: here you will find all feedback requests, including those that have not yet been responded to.
- Collection assessment: here you can see how your entire register is assessed. Once the register has been assessed, you will also find the assessment here.
