How do you add a registration to your register and how do you edit it?

You can add all kinds of registrations to your register. Examples of registrations include: a sketch, a drawing, a reflection or evaluation, a collage, a model, a piece of work, a poster, a customer or stakeholder interview, a prepared presentation, or a report.

This article explains how to do this.

You can also edit a saved registration. A new version of your registration will then be created automatically. You and your teacher can also look back at previous versions of a registration. Click here to read how to edit a registration.

Add a registration to you register

To add a registration, follow these steps:

  1. In the Brightspace course environment for your module, click on eJournal in the green navigation bar and click on the register where you want to place a registration.
  2. On the left-hand side, click on the + to add new content.
  3. Select ‘Free-form content’.

What can I do with the other options I see here?

You can use the button Existing content to select a registration from a previous module. You only use the Self-reflection and Verbal feedback options if you want to do a self-reflection or register feedback you have received that concerns your ENTIRE register. Once you click on free-form content, you will see a form that you can fill in as follows:

  1. First, click on Edit categories.
  2. Then click on Select categories to indicate the following three things:
    1. for which learning pathway (or learning pathways) you are recording this entry.
    2. for which project
    3. for which phase of the project: inventory analysis (ia), preliminary design (so), provisional design (vo), final design (do).
  3. You can select multiple categories (learning pathways) if necessary.
  4. Click on the cross to close the selection window.
    You will now see the selected category or categories at the top of the form.
  1. Enter the title of your registration.
  2. In the text box, provide a brief explanation of your registration.
  3. Click on the format you need to record your registration. Usually this will be an Image, File, or Video:

Add an image

You can add an image directly in the text field. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In the editor, click where you want to place the image.
  2. Click Insert/edit image. A new window will appear.
  1. Click Upload.
  2. Drag the image file to this area, or click Browse for an image to select the file.
  3. Click Save to insert the image.

Add a file

  1. To add a file (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, etc.), select the File field in the list of fields.
  2. Click Add file and then Upload from my computer.
  3. Then select the file you want to add.
  4. Want to add another file? Repeat steps 1 and 2.

Add a video

  1. At Saxion, you never submit a video as a file; you always use Saxion's Kaltura video platform for this. First, follow these instructions: How do I add a video to Kaltura?

Do this in a new tab in your browser so that the tab with your registration remains open.

  1. Click on the title of the video in MyMedia.
  2. Click on Share below the video.
  3. Click on Embed.
  4. Click on the blue shaded text and then press Ctrl C to copy the entire code.
  1. In your browser, go back to the tab where you are recording your registration.
  2. Select the Video field from the list of fields.
  3. Paste (Ctrl V) the copied code into the video field.
    You will only see the video after you click Submit to save the registration.

Submit the registration

  1. Once you have added all the components for this registration, click Submit at the bottom. If you forgot to select categories at the top of the form, you will be asked to do so. Make sure you select a category for the project, the design phase and at least one learning pathway.

Edit a registration (saving a new version)

If you edit a registration after you have submitted it, a new version of that registration will be created automatically. You and your teacher can also continue to view the previous version(s).

To edit a submitted registration (i.e., to create a new version), do the following:

  1. Click on the three dots next to the registration.
  2. Click on Edit and make the desired changes.

Next to the three dots, you will now see a button showing the latest version selected. By clicking on it, you can also view previous versions.

  1. Click on Submit to save the modified registration in your register.
