Which step preceded this?
Prior to this step, the programme manager managed the examination programme for the various programme variants. Your course is likely part of this. Once this step has been completed, the courses that belong to an examination programme are made available to you, as the course coordinator, for review. In some cases, the programme manager has created a new course, for example when a modification to an existing course cannot be implemented directly. You are then responsible for completing the set-up of this new course.
This manual is intended for the course coordinator and describes how a course can be modified or prepared for the next academic year. During the current academic year, new insights may arise that lead to changes for the following year, such as adding a different teaching method or adjusting text.
Note: The test method has already been determined by the programme manager and can no longer be changed.

1. Click the course under Beheren cursus that has been assigned to you.
Manage course workflow
When you open the workflow, you will see the steps or activities that need to be completed in order to carry out a specific process from start to finish. This workflow consists of several pages that you will go through step by step. Each page contains specific elements of the course that must be checked, modified, or supplemented.
1. Algemene gegevens cursus (general course information)
This page is for information only. As the course coordinator, you cannot make any changes here.
Note: If any information is incorrect, please submit a Topdesk ticket. Functional Management will assess whether the change can be implemented or whether a new course needs to be created.
2. Aanbodperiodes ( offering periods)
You also cannot make changes on this page. The offering periods were determined earlier by the programme manager.
If the information is incorrect, you can mention this in the comments field at the end of the workflow, or contact the curriculum coordinator. They can still adjust the period if necessary.
3. Omschrijvingen (descriptions)
This is the first page where, as the course coordinator, you can make changes.
- Enter the general course description (in both Dutch and English). When the course is only in English, you can adjust both to English).
- Enter the learning objectives or learning outcomes of the course (also in both languages except when the course is only given in English).
4. Webshopomschrijving (webshop description - only for contract/guest education)
This page only appears when a course is marked as contract or guest education. In that case, descriptions intended for the webshop must be provided. Colleagues from DMC will further edit these texts.
5. Cursus Webshop info (Course webshop info - only for contract/guest education)
This page only appears when a course is marked as contract or guest education.
- Online vanaf (Online from): The course becomes visible on the website from this date
- Online tot (Online until): The course remains visible on the website until this date
- Duur eenheid (Duration unit): Indicate how long the course lasts; choose day, week, month, year
- Duur (Duration): The number belonging to the duration unit above (e.g., 3 weeks)
- Lesdagen (Teaching days): The days on which the course takes place
- Studiebelasting (Study load): Total study load in hours
- Start informatie (Start information): Textual explanation of the course start, e.g., January
- Aanbodvorm (Mode of study): Full-time / part-time / dual
- Sector: Choose from the agreed reference list
- Vakgebied (Discipline): Choose from the agreed reference list
- Mogelijke lesplaatsen (Possible locations): Multiple locations possible
- Contact link: Email address of the contact person
6. Werkvormen (teaching method)
This is an important part of the workflow. Here you determine which teaching methods will be offered within the course.
- Click + Add; the following screen will appear. Here you can choose from two options:
• Kopieer (Copy): create a copy of an existing teaching method, or
• Nieuwe aanmaken (Create new): enter all information manually.
Fill in or adjust all required information. Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory.
- Code: this is generated automatically.
- Werkvorm type (teaching method type): choose from one of the teaching methods in the list (e.g. lecture, tutorial, practical).
- Osiris werkvormcode (Osiris teaching method code): this field is required for the Osiris integration. To ensure this connection works correctly, it is essential that this field is filled in accurately. Choose an unique teaching method code for each teaching method within the course. Each separate teaching method you add must have its own code.
- Max groepsgrootte (maximum group size): Maximum number of students per group (e.g. 32, 24, 8). Default is 32, but can be adjusted according to the approved list. This is used later to calculate the number of groups
Tip!: Keep track of which Osiris teaching method codes you have already used, for example in a list.
Note: Add all different teaching methods for scheduling purposes. If the same teaching method has different group sizes, create it twice so scheduling can be adjusted accordingly.
Click on Opslaan (Save)
7. Toetsschema (test scheme)
Te test method of the course was determined earlier by the programme manager. If a new test method is required, this means that a new course must be created —only the programme manager can do this.
As course coordinator, you can adjust some elements of the assessment by clicking the pencil icon.
This opens the following workflow:
7.1. Toestgegevens (RO) (test details)
Here you find the characteristics of the assessment, such as study credits, weighting, assessment method, and pass mark. You cannot make changes here. These should have been made earlier by the programme manager. Often, changes to test details require creating a new course.
7.2. Aanpasbare toetsgegevens (adjustable test details)
Some test elements can be changed for the upcoming academic year. These can be edited on this page.
7.3. Extra toetsinformatie (additional test information)
Here you record the test criteria, an example can be seen below:
7.4. Toetsactiviteit toevoegen/aanpassen (add/edit test activity)
Each course has a test. Existing test types cannot be changed. Under each test there are test activities; as the course owner, you must define these.
- Click the arrow next to the test to view the underlying test activities.
- Click Toevoegen (add) if you want to add a new activity.
- Click here if an assessment activity needs to be modified.
The following screen opens when you add a new test activity.
1. Soort (type): The activity type is the same as the test type. If an test is defined as an test, the underlying activities are also tests.
2. Code: This is generated automatically
3. Verwacht aantal deelnemers (expected number of participants): Enter the expected number of participants for the test here.
4. Optionally enter a Opmerking (comment) for the planner/scheduler.
5. Enter the toetsgelegendheid (test attempt): is this the first attempt, the second, etc.?
6. Week In aanbodperiode (week in offering period): If the course takes place in period 4, you can indicate here in which timetable week of period 4 the test activity should be scheduled. You can also specify multiple weeks if the test activity does not need to take place in a fixed week, for example 4.4 to 4.7. The scheduler can then decide in which week the activity will be scheduled.
7. It is also possible for an test activity to take place outside the offering period, for example if the course runs in period 4 but the test activity takes place in period 5. It is not possible to schedule an test before the offering period. In that case, the offering period will need to be adjusted.
Note: The test attempt is a mandatory field and is essential for the link to Osiris. Therefore, always ensure that an test attempt is defined for your test activities.
The following screens opens when you edit a test activity. Here you can make changes to an existing test activity for the next year.
1. Code: This is generated automatically
2. Toetstype (test type):
8. Afronden (finalising)
Finally, complete the workflow by clicking Afronden (complete).
What is the next step?
Once all course coordinators have managed their courses, the curriculum coordinator reviews the full examination programme of the programme variant. They check the content and coherence of the programme and assess whether it is logically structured, for example ensuring there is not too much overlap in teaching methods or learning objectives. The curriculum coordinator may also make changes to the courses, including adjustments previously made by course coordinators. The course coordinator will not be asked to review or amend these changes again.
