Why a migration?
Saxion's media content is stored in the program Kaltura. Currently, the media content is stored in a server location in the USA. To comply with the GDPR legislation, we will migrate the current data to a server location in a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA). The migration of the data will be largely automatic. However, there are some things that are important for owners of media on Saxion's video platform to know and do.
Temporarily unable to edit media uploaded before June 1
Modifications to media files put on the server before June 1, 2025 will not be carried over to the new environment if you change them after June 1. This is because the data will be transferred to the new server starting June 1. This means that you cannot make changes to this media after June 1. Do you upload new media after June 1? Then this will be included in the migration.
Solution: Do you want to make changes to such a file? Save it as a new copy with “Save a Copy” in the video editor. Then it will be included in the migration. Or wait with making edits until July 21, 2025.
Tip: Files that are on the server at the time of migration are considered “as is” (AS IS).
