In this guide, you can read how to download all your graded assignments from Blackboard at once by working with the Blackboard Portfolio. Blackboard will be available to students until 10 November 2024. Till then you still have time to download your graded assignments. How exactly to do this can be read below or watch the tutorial video. The portfolio does not allow you to download everything from Blackboard. Limitations and solutions can be found at the bottom of this article.

How to make a portfolio
- Login to Blackboard
- Click on 'Tools' in the menu on the left site of the screen.
- Then click on 'Portfolios' to open the Blackboard portfolio tool
You will see your portfolio start page. If you have already created portfolios you will see an overview of these.
There are three sections on this page:
- My Portfolios shows an overview page of all the portfolios you have created.
- My Artefacts goes to the page where you can manage and edit the content elements of your portfolios.
- Shared with Me provides an overview of sections of Portfolios of fellow students that have been sent to you for feedback. we will not discuss this further in this article.
Make sure you are in the My portfolios section. This is the default screen you start with when you go to My Portfolios.
- Click on Create Portfolio
- Give the portfolio a name
- Leave all other choices at the default values
- Click on Submit
How to fill a portfolio
After submitting your portfolio, you will see a screen that allows you to build the portfolio.
- Click on the plus sign to create a new page
- Give the page the name of the course
Adding the graded assignments and assessments using Artefacts
- Click on Edit Artefact
- In the pop-up window, click Add from Course
- Select the desired course
- Select the desired assignments you wish to add
- Click on Submit
Add grades and feedback to a portfolio
- Click on the arrow to the left of the cross.
- Be sure to check all the boxes for each assignment otherwise not everything will be included.
- When you are done, click Save.

If you would like to add another course, repeat the steps for each course whose graded assignments you would like to download.
- Is your assignment complete? Then click Done Editing in the upper left corner.

How to download a portfolio
If everything is complete:
- Click on More
- Followed by Download
- Click again on Click to download Portfolio and save the zip file to a desired location on your computer
Unzip the zip file and open the 'index' file to access the portfolio locally. Follow these steps:
- Download and install the WinZip program on your computer. (WinZip is a software program that compresses files (to reduce file size) and decompresses (unzips) them, making it easier to manage and share large files).
- Open the downloaded zip file from Blackboard using WinZip.
- Select the folder where the extracted file should be placed under 'Actions'
- Select the zip file in WinZip
- Click on 'Unzip' and select 'to this computer'
Now open the extracted folder and double-click on 'index.html' to view the portfolio.
Limitations and solutions
- Submitted videos in Kaltura are not included in the Portfolio but a copy can still be accessed at https://video.saxion.nl/my-media
- It is not possible to add a formative test made in Blackboard to the Portfolio
- A SafeAssign report (plagiarism scan) is not included by default in the Portfolio. However, the source file is visible. If you would still like to download the SafeAssign report you can follow these instructions.
