How do I add formulas in the Editor?

Aangepast op

You can add different types of formulas in the Brightspace HTML editor. This can be done either by using the built-in sortware in Brightspace or by typing inline LaTeX code

Insert formulas through the formula editor

  1. Click on the plus icon and then on the Equation symbol.
  2. Click on the desired option:
    • Graphical Equation opens the formula editor (similar to Microsoft Word).
    • Chemistry Equation is used to add chemical formulas.
    • You use MathML Equation to add a formula in the MathML markup language.
    • You use LaTeX Equation to add a formula in the LaTeX markup language

The formula editor appears in a new window.

  • Enter your formula by clicking on the symbols under Insert Equation.
  • Click the arrow icon to switch the formula to graphical/MathML form.
  • Click on Insert to close this screen and add the formula.

You can check MathML and LaTex formulas by previewing them. Add your formula under Insert Equation and then click Generate a Preview.

Insert formulas by typing LaTeX code

If you are familiar with LaTeX code, you can type it directly inline in the editor. For example, this looks like this:

When you save the text, it will appear like this:

On this Wikipedia page you can see how to type different mathematical LaTeX codes inline.
