Aangepast op

For this topic, a video has been created. The video explains how to make a grade scheme. Below the video, you can see the written explanation.

Grade scheme homepage

Grade Schemes make it possible to make changes to how grades are registered. You can choose whether certain grades are translated to a symbol, text or whether they are rounded to a specific percentage.

  • Navigate to Course Admin using the navigationbar of the course.
  • Click on Grades.
  • Navigate to Schemes (third tab). You will land on the Grade scheme homepage. Here, you can find an overview of all available schemes.
  • With the buttons at the top, you can perform the following actions:
    • Click on New Scheme to create anew scheme
    • Click on More Actions to Copy or Delete existing schemes.
  • In the table, you can see several columns:
    • Under Scheme Name you can see an overview of the existing schemes.
    • Under Default Scheme you can see which scheme is active based on the check.
  • Under Set as Default you can make a different scheme active by clicking on the check box.
  • The scheme Grades 0-10 - rounded to 0,1 points is the standard scheme, defined at organisation level. The two schemes below it are also predefined.

Creating a Grade Scheme

  • Navigate to the grade scheme homepage.
  • Click on New Scheme.

  1. Enter the name of the grade scheme.
  2. Give the scheme a shortened name.
  3. In the table, fill out the grade scheme.
    • Under Symbol, fill out the name for every element in our grade scheme. For example:
      • Letters (A+, A, B, C, D, F)
      • Numeric (1-10)
      • Text (Failed, Passed, Great)
    • Under Start, fill out the percentages that is used for assigning symbols.
    • Associate a colour to the symbols, using Colour.
    • Fill out the actual grade that the student will receive under Assigned Value.
  4. Click on Add Ranges to add new lines to the grade scheme. Add multiple lines at the same time by increasing the number in front of Add Ranges.

Do you wish to not show a colour scheme of symbol to students? You can read how you can change the settings for what students see in the article How do I change the Gradebook settings?

Using a Grade Scheme

After creating a Grade Scheme, you must select this before you can use it. You can do this by selecting the desired grade scheme on the grade scheme homepage (as described earlier in this article).

Watch out: If you make changes to the Grade Scheme in the Grade book, then the existing grades will be adapted to the newest version of the grade scheme. If you do not want the existing grades to change, you should make a new grade scheme.
