Publishing videos in the course Kaltura Media Gallery enables your students to view all Kaltura videos in your course via the Kaltura Media Gallery tool. In this article, you can read how you can use this tool.
Overview
The course Kaltura Media Gallery can be seen as a course video library, it is course specific and functions as a separate video channel.
- Go to your course
- Click on Course Tools
- Click on Kaltura Media Gallery
Publish a video from Kaltura My Media into the course Kaltura Media Gallery
- Click on Add Media
- OPTIONAL: Use the search bar to find your video
- Select the video(s) you want to publish in the course Kaltura Media Gallery
- Click on Publish
The video(s) is/are now available in the course Kaltura Media Gallery and visible for students.
Remove a video from the Kaltura Media Gallery
If you no longer want a video to be visible in the course Kaltura Media Gallery, you need to remove the video from the gallery. The video will NOT be deleted, just removed from this specific Kaltura Media Gallery.
- The video will still be available in your course content, if you have placed/embedded it there.
- The video will still be available in your Kaltura My Media if you are the owner/collaborator.
- Go to the Kaltura Media Gallery in the course
- Hover with your mouse over the thumbnail of the video you want to remove and click on the three dots in the bottom right corner
- Click on the little cross the remove the video
- Students can now no longer see the video via the Kaltura Media Gallery in your course.
Edit this specific Media Gallery's settings
Click on the hamburger icon in the top right corner followed by Edit
- Add a description for this specific Media Gallery
- Add tags for this specific Media Gallery
- Select/deselect options:
- Moderate content
- Enable comments in Media Gallery
- Keep comments private to Media Gallery
- Display embedded media in this Media Gallery - PLEASE READ DISCLAIMER
DISCLAIMER: Please note that if you have checked the Display embedded media in this Gallery box, all the Kaltura videos placed in your course content will be displayed in the course Kaltura Media Gallery. Even if you have set a individual HTML page which contains a Kaltura Video to invisible, the video will still be shown in the course Kaltura Media Gallery. Moreover, the Kaltura Media Gallery neglects release conditions set on Kaltura videos placed in course content.
Create Channel Playlists
If you would like to organize your videos by week or topic, you can create playlists in Kaltura Media Gallery.
- Click on the hamburger icon in the top right corner followed by Edit and click on the second tab Playlists
- Choose + Create channel playlist.
- Type in the name of your playlist
- Below the Add Items To Your Playlist, you will see a list of all of your media. If you would only like to see videos that you have already added to Media Gallery, click the drop-down by My Media and choose Media Gallery
- To add videos, click the plus sign to the right of the video you would like to add. Each added video will appear on the right side column.
- Move a video to a desired position by clicking the left hamburger icon and dragging the video
- Once you created the playlist click on Go to Media Gallery to view the gallery
